Caring for indoor plants may seem like a scary task if you are known to be a plant serial killer. However, you are not alone in this struggle. Home Botany Magazine's first issue provides you with a detailed guide to caring for your favourite green friends. Here is a quick peak of care guides discussed in the issue:

Peace Lily (Spathipyllum):

The Peace Lily is the quintessential elegant houseplant. Known for its dark, glossy foliage and hooded white blooms (spathes), it acts as a living thermometer—drooping dramatically when thirsty to let you know exactly what it needs.

Care Instructions

Water: Leaves will droop, letting you know it's time to water again

Light: Low to medium indirect light

Soil: Use a peat-based soil that retains some hydration

Delicious Monster (Monstera Deliciousa)

Commonly known as the "Swiss Cheese Plant," the Monstera is a showstopper. Its large, heart-shaped leaves develop unique holes and slits (fenestrations) as they mature, giving it a distinct tropical silhouette that has become an icon of modern interior design.

Care Instructions

Water: Water when about 50% of the soil is dry. Once or twice a week will suffice, depending on how hot it is.

Light: Bright indirect light

Soil: Combine standard potting soil with perlite and orchid bark

Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea Seifrizii):

If you want to evoke a sense of the tropics without the fuss, the Bamboo Palm is your best bet. With its multi-stemmed growth and feathery fronds, it adds soft texture and height to empty corners or hallways.

Care Instructions

Water: Prefers consistent moisture—don’t let the soil dry out completely

Light: Bright indirect light, but can tolerate low to medium light

Soil: A rich, loamy potting mix with excellent drainage

Chinese Money Plant (Pilea Peperomioides):

Also known as the "Pancake Plant" or "UFO Plant," this quirky succulent-like perennial features perfectly round, bright green leaves on long, delicate stems. Its compact size makes it a perfect choice for desks and bookshelves.

Care Instructions

Water: Allow the soil to dry out almost completely. The leaves will droop when it's time to water again

Light: Bright indirect light

Soil: Use a very well-draining cactus or succulent mix
